MINUTES OF MEETING

Carlucci’s Waterfront

876 Centerton Road, Mount Laurel, NJ 08054

Vice-President Bill Haggerty called the meeting to order at 6:59 pm.  Mr. Haggerty asked the membership present to go around the room and make introductions.  At 7:10 pm the floor was handed over to tonight’s speaker

SPEAKER

The speaker tonight was Tara Vargo, Esq.  The topic for the evening was ALTA Land Title Surveys.

Mrs. Vargo discussed the minimum ALTA/NSPS Land Title  Survey Standards and the optional Table A requirements.  Many issues were raised by the membership regarding the surveys including how the certifications should be written and why ALTA/NSPS expressly directs their certification to remain unchanged.  Other items such as the responsibility of title companies to acquire the deeds for the property in questions and the adjoining properties was discussed.

Mrs. Vargo presented a number of different options for supplying the client with a product that meets their needs.  This includes a list of possible boundary line encroachments.  Mrs. Vargo also warned that surveyors make no legal case as to the location of boundary lines.

Questions were asked throughout the evening.  The presentation concluded at 9:00 pm.
