President Bill Haggerty called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm. Mr. Haggerty asked the membership present to go around the room and make introductions.
The floor was turned over to tonight’s speaker.
The speakers tonight were Steffanie A. Lerch and Paul J. Tully, certified financial planners with Eagle Wealth Strategies. Mr. Tully began the presentation by discussing recent market fluctuations, economy, and retirement options. He turned to the floor over to Ms. Lerch to discuss further about retirement planning.
Ms. Lerch explained about retirement risks, which includes longevity, spending, inflation and a number other unknown variables such as market risks. She encouraged the membership to start thinking about when they would like to retire, how much money would they need and try to estimate how long it should last. Also for consideration was what the individual goals were for retirement and how to budge for those goals.
Among the topics discussed were how to decide what you would need to retire as it relates to your age, tax bracket, marital status and your current employment status.
Mr. Tully and Ms. Lerch handed out copies of “The Eagle’s View”. A quarterly newsletter published by Eagle Wealth Strategies that highlights current events in relation to financial planning and offers some commentary.
